Behind Blue Eyes.

Unshaven face and receding hairline,
Chin sports an unkempt goatee.
Jeans and T-shirt always clothes of choice,
With white trainers now nearly grey.
Hands rarely seen out of pockets,
Earphones rarely seen out of ears.
Head lolls on wrinkly neck,
Eyes closed he sleeps on the bus.
Yet behind his tired eyelids,
Behind blue eyes.
Idea after idea forms and shapes,
Some instantly discarded,
Some stored under “possibilities.”
Some initially promising fizzle out.
But they never stop coming.
From behind tired eyelids,
From behind blue eyes.
